Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Reunion

< PREVIOUS PAGE

Top: My traveling buddy, Paul Carter, heads back to our parade-watching post carrying a tasty hamburger from one of the many food stands scattered around Steamer Hill.

Left: Don Bradley drives our family's Case 10-30 steamer in the daily Rollag parade during the 2006 show. During the reunion, at least 50 steam engines and well over 200 gas tractors make the loop up the hill and past thousands of spectators twice each day.

Right: A trio of 1/3-scale steam engines cools down after a long day of entertaining thousands of onlookers.

In the background stands the Case Memorial, a tribute to the founders of WMSTR and to many members who have passed away since the show began. In the center of the memorial stands the giant figure of "Old Abe," the Case Eagle, which was rescued from the Case building in Racine, Wisconsin, brought to Rollag, and restored to its original glory.

Here's a nice shot of Steamer Hill, also known as Thresherman's Hill. This only shows about a quarter of the Rollag grounds. Off the left side of the picture is one of two sawmills that operate daily on the grounds.

Above: All of the exhibitors at Rollag love to talk about their equipment and explain how it all works. Here, Paul gets some pointers on these miniature steam-powered models.
Right:
Paul visits with the builder of this beautiful 1/4-scale Case steam engine.

That's the end of this year's Rollag pictures...but check back often, as I will be scanning and adding more pictures as time permits.
Thanks for looking!
