SEPTEMBER 1980 A truly excellent movie that's often overlooked, "The Final Countdown" played this month. Kirk Douglas plays the captain of a Navy aircraft carrier that's mysteriously swept back in time to December 6, 1941. The ship's radar picks up the Japanese fleet about to invade Pearl Harbor, and it's up to the captain to decide whether to alter history by destroying the Japanese fleet, or let events go on as history dictates. An excellent movie and worth seeking out. This month also featured one of the funniest comedies ever made -- "Airplane." |
