OCTOBER 1980

Disney released the movie "Song of the South" in 1940 and re-issued it several times over the years. The last time we played it was this month in 1980. After this release, Disney received so many complaints from African Americans about the "racial stereotyping" in the film that they pulled it from release and have sat on it ever since. The movie, which is excellent, is not available in any form today. One of the funniest musical movies ever, "The Blues Brothers," also played this month.
