JANUARY 1978 An entertaining thrill movie, "Rollercoaster," played this month. The film was part of a series of movies released with a special sound format, "Sensurround," which featured huge bass drivers mounted in the corners of the theatre to literally rattle the audience in their seats. The Roxy never installed Sensurround (the rental for the system was something like $5,000 per month) but this particular movie was just as much fun without it. This month also featured the last John Wayne movie, "The Shootist." |
