JANUARY 1924 This is the only calendar we have from the precursor to the Roxy, the Lincoln Theatre. (It was also known as the Lincoln Paramount.) The Lincoln, which was a silent theatre, was located two doors west of where the Roxy is now. How in the heck did people endure silent movies? The Lincoln, like all silent theatres, employed a piano player who would play appropriate music for each scene in the film. The film print was accompanied by sheet music, and spoken words were announced by title cards which would appear on the screen. |
